BUFFALOVE:  Our “Buffalo Will See It Through” design is inspired by a World War I poster distributed in Buffalo, NY urging support of Liberty bond drives during the Great War. The Liberty bond was a war bond sold in the U.S. to support the Allied cause in World War I; subscribing to the bonds became a symbol of patriotic duty.

The original “Buffalo Will See It Through” poster is actually derived from the blue star service banner which was designed in 1917 by U.S. Army Captain Robert L. Queisser of the Fifth Ohio Infantry, in honor of his two sons serving in World War I. In a tradition that continues to this day, families at that time would hang the blue star banners – a white field with a red border, with a blue star for each family member serving in the Armed Forces – during the Great War.

(This poster is based on our original 2017 graphic commemorating the centennial of the United States’ entry into World War I.)
